International Size Cartridge
Good ink at a good price. It can bleed a bit with fibrous paper, but if it was more viscous it probably wouldn’t flow as well.I also have bottles of ink and these cartridges are just flat out easier to get back to writing.I didn't do my research before purchasing fountain pen ink. So basically there are two types of ink -- 1. (carbon) pigment-based and 2. dye-based ink.The pigment-based ink is liquid that contains minute SOLID PARTICLES in them -- as far as I know, black carbon particles -- these are the "color particles" that make the ink looks black. This ink should be a suspension. Quoting Wikipedia, "In chemistry, a suspension is a heterogeneous mixture of a fluid that contains solid particles sufficiently large for sedimentation."It's like sand in water. For this type of ink, it should be supposedly "well-mixed" and the particles should be grained small enough so that the ink should flow consistently. HOWEVER, that isn't the case here. These particles (maybe) are not fine-grained enough and that they could accumulate in the pen and there-hence blocking the ink flow. I've also purchased the JINHAO fountain pen and the writing experience is literally a disaster -- I couldn't finish writing a single word without suffering from the ink flow issue, and I've already throw that pen away. The other type of ink is the "dye ink". The "color particle" are completely dissolved in the water/solvent -- making a solution. This type of ink is usually lighter in color (more "dark grey") rather than "bright deep dark", but theoretically, it just can't block the ink flow -- just like water flowing out of the pen! The Parker Quink, for example, is a dye ink. I've make a purchase of that on Amazon and it is still on the way. I'm looking forward to trying that out.In short, DO NOT BUY THIS INK.I bought this for my Zebra brand hiliter. I can't find any refill cartridges for it. The only problem with this brand is that it's too small for the ink to get into the tip. So I did an easy fix by cutting the tip off with an x-acto knife, putting that piece in the pen first and then the cartridge. Works just fine! These cartridges; like the 15 piece package I bought from Amazon, will work in many pens that take similar type cartridges, e.g., Waterman, Aurora, and even the dual type cartridges made by Monteverde, though I've not had as much luck with them. They have more ink than the short cartridges, but not quite as much as, say, a Waterman, but it's only slightly less. 25 will keep me in cartridges for awhile. The biggest thing is I can hopefully use them before they dry up. I will probably, as I use a lot of different fountain pens that these can fit. Additionally, I found out that these fit a rare, slim, pair of fountain pens, with what I assume is Chinese writing (it doesn't look Japanese or Korean, or other Asian). I have "converters" for these, but it's nice to know, when I want to use them, as they have a really, extra, fine point, I now have a cartridge that's just the right diameter to fit them. [I might keep a few of them, when they're empty, and refill them with bottled ink, or something, in case they would stop making them (I hope not). 25 PCS Jinhao International Size Pen Ink Cartridge to Fit Fountain Pens, Black, 5 per PackI love this ink. I recently bought four different styles of Jinhao fountain pens. These cartridges fit in every one. You'll need to push a bit harder on the cartridge to get it to "pop" and release the ink, but it's not that hard to do. It takes about a minute maximum for the ink to flow through to the nib for you to start writing, but be patient and you won't be disappointed. So far I like the ink and I like the convenience. I think cartridges are a good beginner item to get you into fountain pens. That being said, I have arthritis so don't want to take the chance with an open bottle of ink, so these work perfectly for my situation. I write with my new pens a lot, but don't think I'll write enough to blow through all 25 cartridges in a very short time. It's a smooth ink, not dark black, but black enough. My Jinhao pens don't lay down too much ink at once, so it doesn't take very long for the ink to dry at all. Definitely going to get good value for the small amount of money I paid.A diagram showing how to install a cartridge, with a note stating that is takes a little extra force to do so, would have saved a lot of time and energy trying to figure it all out.I had been filling my pen from an ink bottle with the reservoir that came with the pen. It worked pretty well but I decided to give the pre-filled cartridges a try like the ones fountain pens they made us use in grammar school. (Remember the ink fights on the white uniform shirts!) The cartridges work very well though you really have to bear down on them to get the pen to pierce the cartridge. Once you hear the "pop" you're good to go. I'm quite pleased with them and the price is amazingly reasonable! This ink looked to be a very very dark shade of blue when writing on cream vellum. But when I wrote with it on white laid paper it looked black. I am very pleased with other aspects of this ink, such as the way it flows in my Jinhao 165.These are very handy cartridges because they are so slim, and will slip into the most narrow of pens. Obviously this solves a lot of problems, so they are worth having around the place. These work well in my Jinhao fountain pen. I think these cartridges fit Jinhao pwns better than internatonal cartridges do.No instructions and I can't get it to work.Great. Very quick
